Champion of Wits has a long list of pros and cons. I consider cutting it every now and then, but so far the pros have won.
Pros
- It’s a mana sink
- Enables the madness archetype
- Somewhat of a payoff as well for madness
- Small combos with instant speed and general buffs
- Wizard that actually gets buffed by an Adaptive Automation
- Token is a zombie
- Nice and not overbearing blink target
- Looting effects add agency
- Dreamstealer in the core module and some other occasionals already use Eternalize
Cons
- Big text box
- Blue already has plenty of card selection
- Eternalize is a non-resonant mechanic, lots of baggage in the reminder text
- Confusing and non-resonant ability, need to read a couple of times to grasp
- Nagas should be Snakes. Not really a con, but… urgh.
In summary, Champion of Wits is a great enabler that pivots between lots and lots of archetypes, but it might not be a good inclusion in the elegant cube because it offends the “elegance” and “resonance” criteria.
